How do you manage to get around these high costs?

I’ve been dipping into crypto, but man, these transaction fees are killing me. Every time I try to move my tokens, I feel like half of it is going toward fees! I’ve heard switching to a different blockchain could help, but I don’t really know where to start. Is anyone else dealing with this? How do you manage to get around these high costs? Any tips would be awesome!
